This auction is for a circa-1934 Kingsbury
Golden Arrow Racer Mechanical Tin Wind-up Toy Racecar. The Golden Arrow
was a Land Speed Racer built in Britain to regain the world land speed
record from the US. Henry Segrave drove the car at 231.45 mph (372.46
km/h) in March 1929 on Daytona Beach exceeding the previous record by 24
mph (39 km/h).
Measuring 19 "" long by 4 "" wide by 3" tall at the fin,
this spring powered racer comes in the rare blue-green color with the
original Kingsbury Toys white rubber tires. Mechanically,
the spring works, but not very fast and slows down when it
is placed on a surface.
