My return to being an ebay vendor

Overview

In the early 2000’s, before google and smart (pft) phones, there was a wonderful time in which I was young. Electronics was my hobby slash side job at that time, and Ebay provided a great venue for both buying and selling.

As the prices of electronics plummeted,  and the Great Recession of 08, qs well as a venue shift to high volume sellers, I was squeezed out. From there, I got into the marine industry, where I have been ever since.

Well, almost 20 years later, ive come full circle. I  put my time in mostly doing restorations to fiberglass boats, still occasionally take on a job, but my body is telling me “ok …maybe its time…”

So the one thing I did fall in love with was outboard motors. I was never a mechanic, but knew the fundamentals and had enough people with skill around me there to help out if I had a question. I especially love the OMC brands (johnson, evinrude) from the mid 70’s to the mid 90’s. Little ones for tinners, big ones for Jay crafts, all made right here in Ontario. I feel like im keeping a little page of history going to our kids by helping to keep these simple, durable, and plentiful machines alive. Sure, the new four strokes are quiet, efficient, but there is something about the raw power of a two stroke tiller in your hand to get that smile on your face. Maybe im more of a country boy then i like to think i am. 

So hopefully we can help each other out. Im selling off pieces I acquired over the years that I feel are no longer needed; i intend to describe everything to the best of my ability. Everything will be OEM unless otherwise stated. Aftermarket has its place, but there are a few items that i try to stay OEM with, and these are the kind of things you will see me listing.

Where do you ship from?

Central Ontario, Canada, one hour on the nose from the former OMC factory in Peterborough.

Who do you use?

Canada post has proven to be reliable and convenient. Especially to my customers in the south, once it goes to the border, it gets handed off to USPS. Ive done hundreds of transactions and found this to be the most cost effective, reliable way.

Tracking?

Domestic: depends, if its a low dollar item, and small, we may as well lettermail it and keep the numbers down. Having said that, if tracking is requested, I will be happy to provide a service that uses it. Piece of mind for us both.

How often do you ship?

Im rural. I will try for daily, but sometimes things out of my control might make that stretch a bit. If the item is needed I will try and accommodate to the best of my abilities, im a firm believer in get it packed and out the door.

How do I know this is going to work?

This is whats geat. On every motor that these parts came from will be a small plate on the transom mount. One number will be model, one serial. There are several decoders (model number) that tell you the year, horsepower, build location, special features (salt water industrial with a charge port in 1983? Niiiiice!), from there you plug the year and model into one of several sites. For instance:

Don't worry - you won't need your special decoder ring.  Simply use the word "INTRODUCES" and line it up with the numbers 0 through 9.  Each letter corresponds to a specific number.  When decoded, the two letters in the model number will specify the year of manufacture.  For instance, an engine with the code "CS" corresponds to the number "80" or the year 1980.  The code "EU" corresponds to the number "97", or a manufacture year of 1997, and so on.  The year code is located in the model number right after the shaft length and before the final suffix (if any).

Alternatively, you will see numbers on my listings. These are the original OEM part numbers. So you “can” skip this step, but i wouldn’t Its fun to know what you have. Sometimes they had fun with us to.

L=long shaft (pay attention to this part please, so many variations) ED=96, A=variants that are irrelevant to us, like, what…day…it was built perhaps? ha!

If you need other parts from the same motor, there is a very good chance I will have it. Dont be afraid to ask, and we’ll set something up.

Payment: Still setting all that up. Obviously paypal, for domestic users Etransfer is absolutely amazing. If you are a crypto bro who can run a tiller too, absolutely. Im pretty flexible. Ill take dimes if they were made before Woodstock.

Feedback: Please, before leaving me anything less than positive, give me a chance to make things right. 

Returns: I do accept them up till 30 days unless on electronics components, or things I cant test, in which I will be very clear, which is the industry standard. If its gets damaged in shipping, different ballgame. Everything else, yes, but I can only refund the purchase price or offer an exchange, which is why getting the part numbers is so crucial.
