Lot of sixty-three (63) photographic cigarette cards from the 1936 Olympics in Germany. From the estate of a WWII US Army veteran. These were stored together in a bundle undisturbed for years. They are in good condition for their age and were never pasted into an album. Lot contains 2 Jesse Owens cards - the one with Helen Stephens and the monument carving.

62 black & white; 1 in color

All are from the following three series: Sammelwerk Nr. 13, Gruppe 55; Sammelwerk Nr. 14, Gruppe 58 and 59.

All cards in the lot are shown in the photos. They were photographed against snow white acid-free tissue for your color reference. Please view all photos and zoom in to see condition. Most are quite good, with only the expected age discoloration and corner wear. They all gently curve up at the edges, as you can see in the low-angle photos. Many display some indentations and pressure marks visible at that low angle. There are no major rips or folds. No stickiness or moisture damage. The most worn photo is that of Theodor Lewald; it was on the top of the stack. See the close-up photo of Lewald for an example of the "worst". You will find the occasional shallow tear of 1/16 - 1/8 of an inch, or shallow corner fold. The Canada hockey team photo has a short wrinkle across their knees you can see if you zoom in. The reverse sides are pretty clean. One has some tiny brown spatter (and is shown in the close up at the end next to the ski jumper) and a couple have black printers ink smudges on the back.
