LÖTZ ART NOUVEAU VASE
'TANGO', OPAL-BLACK
Model-blown body, bulbous, widening wall on a flush stand, slight constriction under wide, flared mouth edge with wavy contour, 16 black threads worked vertically into the top layer, ground ball tear-off on the underside.
With the Viennese decorative arts designer Michael Powolny The Lötz factory came into contact through his designs for the Werkbund exhibition in Cologne. His striped decoration - shown in Cologne only in blue on a white background - became extremely popular over the next eight years and was produced in countless color combinations. Internally, this decor was referred to as 'Version 157' and was used on a large number of internal designs. Whether any of these forms are based on Powolny's designs cannot be clarified based on the surviving archive material.
