The original seller I purchased this little gem from said it was a snuff box or a bonbonniere  (chocolate/ candy box).  I have many snuff boxes, and this doesn't match the closure style.  I displayed it in my smoke-free home in a glass cabinet among my other candy boxes.

The original description said it's 19th century and in the style of the old Mennecy factory. The mounts are unmarked and are either bronze/ brass with possibly a gold gilt finish.

The bottom of the piece is a low relief of a floral sprig painted in polychrome enamel. Prior seller said the porcelain appears to have a maker's mark, but I don't see anything.

The box measures 2" high by 2" long by 1.5" wide. It hasn't had any chips, cracks, or repairs. Again, prior seller said the metal mounts show some fine, handmade file marks leftover from when the metal- smith fit the mounts to the porcelain. I don't see what they're talking about. The hinge operates freely, opening and closing perfectly.

Asking price is what I paid. Many thanks for looking!
