ENGLISH:

For your consideration, one (1) token "Good for 5," 19mm and thin planchet in nickel material, known as being of mixed Agricultural & Trade use. This specific piece was commisioned by Mr. Fernando Gomez, who owned several Coffee plantations  and a Commercial establishment at the borough of  Palma Escrita, in the mountainous municipality of Las Marias, in the Western part of Puerto Rico, just East of the port city of Mayaguez. Fernando had a brother named Enrique, who also issued tokens, of a larger size in Brass.
The F Gomez token is known to have been issued in the 1890s and used probably up until the American colonial authority deemed them illegal as a form of payment, at around 1902. They were probably manufactured in Europe, as was common for the nicer looking tokens.

At the end of the Spanish American war, the Spanish authorities in Puerto Rico left the island to the American military, who had no idea how to communicate with the Spanish speaking locals, which created a void of several months the rule of law, something bandits took advantage of, specially in the isolated mountains away from the cities, where American military moving in to fill in, took days to weeks to arrive, too late more often than not, when damage had long been done.  In this void, it was common for Merchants to throw their tokens pushed deep into latrines with wooden sticks, so as to avoid getting their tokens stolen by poor peasants turned into bands of thieves, that looked for revenge against sympathizers of the Spanish Crown, normally seen as oppressors and outsiders turned rich by enslaving the locals into a feudal economy sanctioned by the Catholic church. Then merchants had to leave country or face being killed if found, hence tokens were never recovered, their burned states claimed back by the jungle, this being why many of these are so rare to find today.

It is widely cited that most these Palma Escrita tokens were found as part of a large hoard in the early 1990s, when excavating a long abandoned latrine septic hole adjacent to the ruins of the merchant establishment. They were extracted as a ball of white calcified material, all glued together by time, probably just as they had been thrown in a sack. These tokens were processed and cleaned. They may exhibit some dark or reddish stain spots and some porosity, but be otherwise in excellent condition, totally legible, with very little sign of wear, as they barely circulated. They are guaranteed original of that era.
