Cabinet plate in the "apple cluster" pattern by J. H. Stouffer Co, Mark 4, cir 1906 -1914.  The blank is JPL France (Jean Pouyat) Mark 5, cir 1891 - 1932.  The plate is hand painted and artist signed S. Heap (Samuel), cir 1905 - late 1920s.

The plate is slightly scalloped and has a diameter of 8 1/2 inches and weighs 13 oz.

Heap was born in England in 1873 and immigrated to the US in 1896.  He worked briefly for Pickard, but moved to J. H. Stouffer Co as soon as it opened in 1905.  He is well known for his work on fruit and floral designs.

The plate is decorated with in the "apple cluster" pattern, olive green ground, with apples, leaves and stems on a soft pastel multicolored background.  The plate is accented by a wide gold band around the edge, separated by a thin red line.  The gold band features thin red line filigree patterns.
