Up for sale is this beautiful handmade Korean baeja winter vest jacket lined with I believe long-haired sheepskin / sheep’s wool and lined on the borders with a decorative fringe of thick seal fur hair. It is covered in a gorgeous blue outer floral silk brocade on both sides and in the back, wrapping all the way around.

Baeja is a type of traditional Korean vest which is worn over the jeogori by both men and women. It is generally sleeveless like this one; however some baeja may have short sleeves. It was worn during the Joseon period and continues to be worn in present days. During the Joseon period, some forms of baeja (such as the ones used in the jeokui) were also introduced from China's Ming dynasty as bestowed clothing to the royal family.

What a fantastic piece and a cultural work of art and part of the traditional and royal attire to keep warm from the winter’s harsh weather and cold.

It is in absolutely stunning condition as shown. The craftsmanship and detail are really impressive, especially using natural animal skin and fur.

Measures 17” inches top to bottom on the front, about 14” inches top to bottom on the back, 23” inches long across, and when opened, the span of about 38” inches long (43.2 cm, 35.6 cm, 58.4 cm, 96.5 cm).

Would make a fantastic piece to wear or display, fine addition to a collection, or a great gift!
