This thing is so cool to look at it.   It looks like it may have had the base swapped for a wider and more stable one.   The cord has been repaired or something, on the bottom as shown by pics.  

But I got a good deal on this, by total accident (I just thought it was cool so I grabbed it) and I'm passing the savings along, as I always do.  

Exposed portion of the globe is 20" tall.   It reminds me of a lightsaber standing on end.  I'd keep it, but my kids will 100% break it quickly haha
