VIENNA ART DÉCO SILVER JUG

Excellent, elegant silver coffee pot based on the design language of Dagobert Peches' designs:
Raised, widening vessel on a stepped, funnel-shaped base, connected by a beaded ring with hammer-beaten, spiral-shaped grooves, cord band border on the edge of the foot and on the upper, outer edge of the vessel, high, slim swan-neck spout, handle made of ebonized, mounted at a distance by artfully curved bars. Turned wood, fluted, raised, side-hinged lid with hammered spiral decoration and ebonized wooden knob.
All surfaces have a fine hammered decoration in the style of metalwork from the Wiener Werkstätte.

Finest handwork by the Viennese silversmith Josef Carl Klinkosch.

Dagobert Peche (1887 - 1923) was an Austrian artist and was considered the most imaginative representative of the Wiener Werkstätte. He proved to be an ornamental artist who always found the right form and breathed new life into the stagnant crafts of his time. His creative imagination, which prioritized decorative form over functional form, enlivened all areas of the arts and crafts and found new possibilities for decorative design for every material and every technique. His talent only reached its full potential when Josef Hoffmann (1870–1956) invited him to work as an artist at the Wiener Werkstätte in 1915. Peche became known for his love of manneristic, playful objects without a purpose, over-engineered luxury items and his capricious imagination, which underpinned his designs.

All surfaces with fine hammered decoration in the style of the metalwork of the Wiener Werkstätte.

Finest craftsmanship by the Viennese silversmith Josef Carl Klinkosch.

Dagobert Peche (1887 - 1923) was an Austrian artist and was regarded as the most imaginative representative of the Wiener Werkstätte. He proved to be an ornamentalist who always found the right form and breathed new life into the ossified arts and crafts of his time. His creative imagination, which placed ornamental form above functional form, enlivened all areas of arts and crafts and found new possibilities of decorative design for every material and every technique. His talent only came to full fruition in 1915 when Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956) invited him to work as an artist in the Wiener Werkstätte. Peche became known for his love of purpose-free, playful Mannerist objects, over-bred luxury objects and the capricious inventiveness on which his designs were based.
