SIGNIFICANCE OF RED, BLACK, GREEN COLORS: The Rastafarian movement and many Pan-African organizations employ Red, Black and Green. Originally used by activist Marcus Garvey and the UNIA in the United States, they are used to inspire black nationalism or black liberation in addition to Pan-Africanism. Rastafarianism is said to be concerned above all else with black consciousness and with rediscovering both the personal and racial identity of black people. Rastafari spiritualism is Afrocentric - equating blackness with the African continent - thereby endorsing a form of Pan-Africanism. Rastas claim the colors/symbolism of the Ethiopian flag (green, gold and red) as it was used during the reign of Haile Selassie. They combine these colors with the conquering Lion of Judah as a symbol of the Ethiopian monarchy. Rastas endorse these color associations often with the addition of the color black symbolizing the skin of the African people. The colors represented on the Jamaican flag are gold, to symbolize the natural beauty of the sunlight and the minerals and raw materials which constitute Africa's wealth; green, to symbolize the hope and agricultural resources; and black, the strength and creativity of its people. In the 1920s, prior to the development of Rastafari and Jamaican liberation, Jamaican-American black nationalist activist Marcus Garvey founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League. The UNIA enjoyed its greatest strength early in its inception, and was influential prior to Garvey's deportation to Jamaica in 1927. The UNIA is still said to be the most influential anti-colonial organization in Jamaica prior to 1938. Garvey, who adopted red, green, and black as colors associated with this movement, described these colors as symbolizing the blood of martyrs (red), the skin of the African people (black) and the vegetation of the land (green). A tri-band flag consisting of three equal horizontal bands of red, black and green, it is designed to represent people of the African Diaspora.

HANDCRAFTED JEWELRY ~ Rings are constructed one at a time and therefore no two will be exactly alike. Due to variations in both materials and sourced supplies, slight imperfections are to be expected. Natural beads and stones often contain flaws, blemishes, variations and inclusions. I always do my best to accurately reproduce the designs portrayed in my shop. Please note also that photography presents differently on varying devices.

♡ RING CARE INSTRUCTIONS ♡
The enamel coating on plated copper wire will resist tarnishing, chipping, and peeling. However, tarnish-resistant doesn’t mean tarnish-proof. Almost all metal discolors over time, however, so you can prolong the finish on your ring as well as the vibrancy of your gemstones by following these simple tips:

> AVOID MOISTURE ~ Keep your ring away from moisture. It is best to remove your ring before washing your hands, when showering, bathing, exercising and swimming since contact with water can tarnish the metal and ruin the finish of any gemstones.
> AVOID CONTACT WITH CHEMICALS ~ Perfume, soap, moisturizer, lotion, hand sanitizer and other similar chemicals can discolor the plated cooper crafting wire and can harm natural crystals and gemstones. Be careful.
> AVOID HEAT EXPOSURE ~ Leaving your ring in direct sunlight or exposed to heat for an extended period of time may also cause the metal to discolor. Remember to remove your jewelry when exercising.
> STORE SAFELY ~ Always store your ring in a soft pouch (or even better, in a tarnish resistant jewel box) and never wear your ring to bed when prolonged exposure to the oils and perspiration from your skin will affect the wire's coating barrier.
