Description

This shooting stick features a brown leather-cladded aluminium crook handle, which folds out to become a leather seat. The aluminium fixing has the metal soil plate fitted onto it

Embossed onto the aluminium fixings under the crook is the model, patent number and famous English stick manufacturer:
'Howell London
The Prince
Snap Restick
Reg No 719136'

Henry Howell & Co walking sticks. Was founded in 1832 and was originally based at 76 Aldersgate, London. By 1895 the company had relocated to 180 City Road, London, employed over 460 people, and marketed itself as the world’s largest manufacturer of walking sticks.

The shaft is made from Ironbark wood, and embossed into it is:
'Tested Ironbark'

The stick features its original metal ferrule that the metal plate slides onto to prevent the stick from sinking into soft ground.

A great item, with tons of traditional character.
