German. 1940s. Lithographed tin. Toy is marked "U.S.-Zone Germany". Post-war German manufacturers were banned from exporting goods. Americans occupying the territories permitted the sale and export of toys so long as they were marked "Made in U.S. Zone Germany". This marking was used from the mid to late 1940s. Marked on wheels, front and sides of motorcycle, and underside. Marked, "Made in U.S.-Zone Germany", on underside. Excellent condition. Tested and working. Pinpoint nicks on gloves, boots, and helmet top.
