■The artist is Torii Kiyonaga IV (1752 - 1815)
■One of the six greatest Ukiyo-e artists along with Sharaku, Hokusai, and Hiroshige.
■Kiyonaga was an Edo ukiyoe artist who was also world-renowned as a master painter of beautiful women.
■Both paintings are called ""Degatari-zu"" Ukiyoe.
■Degatari-zu, which depicts actors on a stage with a shamisen player in the background, is a unique expression by Kiyonaga.
■The composition gives the viewer a sense of the realism of the stage in a single painting.
