In winter and early spring, Stachyurus praecox produces arched red stems that are covered in masses of spikes (10cm long) with vibrant Yellow-Green bells. A small to medium size shrub from Japan with mid-green leaves which turn to a gold and red hue in autumn making it a lovely all year round shrub.  It can also be trained against a wall.
