1973 Fender Precision Bass.

This early '73 bass features '72 and earlier era details with it's tortoise pick guard with tug bar mounted on bottom side of strings. Sunburst finish. Beautiful figuring in rosewood fret board.

This bass has been setup as the ultimate flatwound bass. It has Aguilar 4P pickups, brand new TI flats, the back of the neck has been unfinished and the original bridge all reduce the harmonic content. The strings haven’t been been worn in yet.

This bass has been Plekked and setup by SF GuitarWorks.

This bass is in super survivor condition. Light weight and well balanced. Straight neck, virtually unworn frets. Beautiful original tortoise pickguard. Retains Body has a couple dings near the edges and normal marks, checks and scuffs. The weight is 8 lbs, 6.4 oz. Neck stamped 0101-1533 ('73). Both Vol and Tone pots are 304 7304, 4th week of '73. The original pickups are stamped in red ink 17973 and 171673.

The Fender "tail logo" case is in good average condition having been moved around with wear. Still solid, but not quite as amazing as this bass is.

This bass is a 1973 by the ink stamp on the neck heel, the Jan '73 pot codes, and the pickup date stamps, however, this instrument has 1972 features: The original pickups are grey bottom solder joints). Also the pickguard is tortoise shell, not black. The thumb rest is mounted below the bass string on the bottom not on the top above the treble string. There is no route between for wires like later ’73. (These are all the ’72 features). Hence, the '72/'73 mention. So when the factory shuts down before Christmas holiday in '72 and resumes in January '73, they use up the transition changes. This is one of those, and it's all stock and original from the factory this way.
