From my grandmother's estate. During the 1950's, she collected Asian art. She thought this vase was "nephrite jade"
from China. But she was no expert and neither am I so I really don't know if this is jade or some other stone.
This antique 8" green vase weighs more than 2-1/2 lbs. The base diameter is 2-3/4", the neck diameter is 1-1/2", and the
circumference at the widest part is 11-1/2". I inserted a small flashlight in the neck as far as it would go to see its
translucence (see photo).
A dragon winds around the lower half and appears to be hand carved. Please zoom in on the photos to see it.
Condition: I believe the dark flecks and one brown area are natural. There is a very small white spot which may be a chip or
scratch (see photo). The surface of the vase is uneven in areas so I suspect that this may be due to an uneven
coating (resin??). But again, I am no expert! Please examine the photos closely as they are part of the description.
(Note: I am happy to update this description with suggestions from jade experts!)
Final sale. Shipping weight will be 3 lbs with USPS Priority Mail. Thanks for looking and please check out my
