Thanks for viewing this item. Please read through the description in full as it will help you to appreacite the work I have undertaken to ensure the bike can be riden and enjoyed safely for many years to come.

As a trained Cycle mechanic I take great satisfaction in finding older bikes that have been well cared for and can be given a new lease of life .

You may be thinking why is a “ Halfords” branded bike so rare . After all , the brand name we know today does not shout high quality.

That was not the case in 1978 / 79 when Halfords were a independant retailer who build and sold decent bicyles.

The “ International” example was built in their Welsh factory as a lightweight Road bike with a definate french slant, take a look at the components fitted.

I found this 22 “ Framed bike in a shed, it has had a very quiet life , it was 100% original with some light storage marks here and there. It was crying out to be saved. That is exactly what I have done.

The bike was completely stripped down , cleaned then reassembled using as many original parts as possible. Listed below is the work completed, and the parts that are original to the bike.

1. Frame deep cleaned and clear coated to preserve the originality.

2. All bearings including hubs replaced and greased.

3. New Chain.

4. New inner and outer brake and gear cables

5. New Tyres

6. New fabric bar tape.

Compents fitted from Factory.

1. Mafac centre pull brakes and leavers

2. 10 speed Simplex front and rear mech and leavers

3. Milremo Hubs front and rear dated stamped 1978.

4. weinmann 27x11/4 alloy rims

5. Solida crank set 52/42

6. Ti Italia saddle

7. MKS QU 2k pedals

The frame is 22” , there are some age related marks , however , the paint work is bright and generally in good condition.

The bike rides really well , smooth gear changes with that classic freewheel click when coasting .

A really good example of what is now a rare old road bike …

The bike will be shipped via a courier , in a bike box with some reassembly required by the new owner .

Alternatively the bike can be collected in person from the New Forest area.
