Original WW2 893rd Tank Destroyer Battalion uniform. Named to Thomas William Griffith, ASN 33081082, a member of the 893d Headquarters Company. Griffith was awarded the Bronze Star.
The jacket is unaltered and is identified to Thomas Griffith via his service number and laundry number.
The 893rd TD Bn. fought most notably at Normandy and the bloody Hurtgen Forest. They used the M-10 Tank Destroyer. Lots of good information out there on this unit.
Interestingly, the first person issued of this jacket was a 1st Infantry Division infantryman as evident by the ghost stitching inside of the jacket. These jackets were frequently reissued. Some slight mothing as pictured. Research packet included.
Awesome uniform to a very historic unit.
