An interesting and unusual 19th century book plate featuring a star shaped decoy pond with decoys at the end of each arm.

Popular on low lying estate land in the 19th century, an early method of capturing ducks in England was by driving them into tunnel nets at a time when the young birds could not fly and the older ones were moulting.

The plate has some fold marks, but otherwise this and the frame are in very good original condition.
