This is a rare form attributed to an English origin. Beautifully cast with fancy beaded rim and typical skillfully done Victorian era bright cutting. There’s a name that looks like Donnie or Dannie maybe. Okie be seeing it wrong. The dip stick that had it before me did an acid test on the backside. It’s stained a and worn a bit in this area. Luckily that no matter how you would naturally display this piece that part won’t be seen. You can angle it a couple different ways to show off the cat and all of these ways hide the stain. There is a number hand engraved in the bottom of the cat, probably my the worker at the company that finished the piece. This is likely silver plated, like most of them are. There’s always a chance it’s solid silver though. I for one won’t be acid testing it. Newell Antiques has one made from this mold for sale for for $340. I think mine looks better, except for the stain/worn spot of course. For a wicker sale and taking in mind the condition issue I’ve priced mine significantly lower. These are the only two for sale in the world at the moment it seems. I’ve included screenshots of other cat napkin rings for reference only. Ships ASAP! Thanks
