The night from March 26 to 27, 2022, passed quietly for the residents of Okhtyrka for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

And already on March 27, the active phase of the battles for this city in Sumy Oblast ended.

Since then, active work has begun on demining the territory and restoring damaged buildings and infrastructure.

For the massive heroism and resilience of the citizens shown in the defense of the city, by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 164/2022, Okhtyrka, which has become an impregnable outpost against the further advance of the Russian army deep into the territory of Ukraine, was awarded the honorary title "Hero City of Ukraine".

It is these events that are dedicated to the postal issue "Cities of Heroes. Okhtyrka", the stamps of which depict the building of the Okhtyr City Council destroyed as a result of an enemy attack.

The postal set includes: stamp sheet "Cities of Heroes. Okhtyrka", card and envelope "First day".
