WWI ERA SOLDIER RPPC GRAND TRUNK RAILWAY STATION CLINTON ONTARIO CANADA POSTCARD


"Boys of the 161st Batt. Leaving Clinton on Last Leave" is the text on the postcard by Ball Photo. Stamp block indicates it was printed between 1904-1918. The 161st was active from 1916-1918 so the card is from 1918 at the latest.

The 161st (Huron) Battalion, CEF was a unit in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. Based in London, Ontario, the unit began recruiting in late 1915 in Huron County. After sailing to England in November 1916, the battalion was absorbed into the 4th Reserve Battalion on February 15, 1918.
