 Here is from Gaston Hauchecorne (1880-1945): the bust of a young Chinese woman in waxed terracotta, signed at the tip.Period: 1900-1940.

Condition: set in very good condition, cleaned and re-waxed, as in the photos.

Gaston Hauchecorne (1880-1945) was a professor and interpreter in Beijing then held the position of director of the French consulate in Chongqing ( Sichuan ). In the 1920s, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and participated in the Marseille Colonial Exhibition of 1922. These subjects are then executed in terracotta or bronze. Discovered by the art dealer Arthur Goldscheider, Hauchecorne joined the group of sculptors "La Stèle" which included among its members Henri Bouchard, Max Blondat and Paul Landowski. Their work was exhibited in 1925 under the title "Art Déco" at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts.
