Phase loss and phase sequence sensor with contactor contact control MKF-2PK The MKF-2PK voltage asymmetry relay is designed to protect three-phase motors (3 x 400V AC) of any power against the effects of operation when a circuit breaks in one of the wires ; in the power supply ( phase loss ) and in the event of a voltage drop ( asymmetry of phase voltages ) and in the case of incorrect phase sequence . In addition, it controls the three-phase network downstream of the contactor, preventing damage to the motor as a result of suspension or burnout of the contactor contact. The principle of operation consists in measuring the symmetrical zero component of the supply voltage. If one of the phases fails or its voltage drops to about 175V for more than 3.5 seconds, the MKF-2PK relay disconnects the motor. After the cause of activation has ceased, the motor restarts automatically. In the event of incorrect phase sequence, the MKF-2PK relay switches off the motor immediately (at the moment of starting, the motor will not rotate). Phase sequence control is carried out from the side of the three-phase network. In case of detecting a break behind the contactor, the MKF-2PK relay will switch off the motor permanently. In this state, the motor will not start automatically. To restart the engine, turn the power off then back on. If, after approx. 3.5 s, the motor is switched off again and the red diode lights up, this will indicate a serious damage to the contacts of the contactor (or the thermal bimetallic relay). The operation of the relay is indicated by 3 LEDs. The green LED is on when the network is OK. If this diode goes out, it means that at least one phase is missing or the phase voltage drops below approx. 175V. The first red LED is on when the phase sequence is incorrect. The lighting of the second red diode means that a break behind the contactor has been detected. The MKF-2PK relay has a galvanically separated changeover contact at the output with a load capacity of 5A 250V AC.
