About cutie

CUTiE is a monthly women's fashion magazine published by Takarajimasha. It was first published in 1989, targeting women, mainly teenagers, who like unique fashion. It was recognized as a women's magazine for vintage clothing, Harajuku, and Ura-Harajuku. Currently not published.

When ``CUTiE'' was first published, it was a quarterly mook magazine published four times a year as a supplement to the same magazine, with the title ``the girls' version of Treasure Island.'' With the theme of the catchphrase "for INDEPENDENT GIRLS", it became an independent publication and became a monthly publication at the same time. It is characterized by an innovative magazine that captures the cutting edge of fashion trends, creating the DC brand trend until around 1990, and the trend of street fashion from the 1990s onwards. At that time, it was a transitional period in which Japan's music fashion was becoming more segmented, and it functioned effectively as a magazine media that suggested individuality in clothing. CUTiE was the first to adopt the reader model under the name STREET KIDS COLLECTION.

Since the launch of ``CUTiE'', Takarajimasha has published fashion magazines with a strong street orientation, such as ``spring'', ``Smart'', ``mini'', ``sweet'', and ``InRed''. Since it became a monthly publication, manga by Kyoko Okazaki and Moyoko Anno have been serialized, and in 1998, the girls' manga magazine ``CUTiE Comic'' was created.

On July 29, 2015, it was announced that publication would be discontinued after the September issue, which was released on August 11 of the same year.

Street fashion magazines from the 1990s to early 2000s are valuable and sold at high prices in Japan.

In Japan in the 1990s, the internet was not yet popular, so there is very little material about the street scene from that time available online. Therefore, more and more collectors are collecting these magazines as valuable materials.
