Queen Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign coin 1838, first young head left, W.W. raised on truncation for engraver William Wyon, Latin Legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. Reverse, crowned quartered shield of arms within laurel wreath, emblems below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REGINIA FID: DEF:, edge milled, 7.97g (Bentley 36; Marsh 22 R; S.3852).


IMPORTANT FACTS:

1. Queen Victoria was Coronated in 1838, this is seen as coronation sovereign.

2. Celebrated both, the Golden and Diamond Jubilee. Queen Victoria was the first Monarch to achieve either.

3. Queen Victoria Was the longest reigning monarch in British history until Queen Elizabeth II broke the record recently.

4. First year of issue during Victorian reign, very highly sought after.
