This 1966 Corvette C2 Coupe is the PERFECT example of what happens when an NCRS Judged, award-winning car is used as a starting point for a true restomod build, with an open checkbook at hand to make sure it's perfect.

It has 406 miles since completion, and the motor was broken in on a stand prior to installation before a full fluid change was done on the car after 300 miles so it was ready for its next owner. It is one of the purest visions of a restomod you will find, and has never seen rain, dew, or even caught a sideways glance from anyone since it was completed.

When starting the build, instead of searching for a suitable beat-up and worn-down project to use as a launch point, a truly magnificent Nassau Blue Judged car was selected, and completely stripped. As you can see, the donor car was exceptionally nice, and needed no bodywork, and practically all the hardware just disassembled with ease! Once the interior was removed, and all exterior trim and moldings, it was time to start!

The body was carefully inspected for any issues from the outside in, as well as inside out, once the paint removal left it stripped bare. Finding no issues, it was carefully hand-sanded and prepped for an exceptionally beautiful Silver Pearl Metallic finish. The paint is outstanding on the car, and a thorough and detailed inspection shows no chips, cracks, dents, dings, or disrepair. There is one tiny scuff about the width of a quarter in length, and perhaps 1-2mm wide that is highlighted in the photos next to a quarter for scale, but that is all I could find. It really is one of the finest finishes I have personally seen in over 25 years in the collector car business, and shines like a bar of silver any time of day.

Chrome was all removed and replated before installation and shows blemish free. Custom 18 inch Schott aluminum wheels are like new, with no issues or marks, and they are wrapped in fresh Hankook rubber with under 400 miles. Tires are sized 225/35R18 up front, and 245/45ZR18 in the back. Glass is OEM spec for the car, and is exceptional, with no chips, cracks, or laminate issues. All badges and trim parts were fully refurbished to like-new condition before installation. There are no issues to report on the exterior components, and everything from seals, weatherstripping, gaps, and final fit/finish is just exceptional.

Under the hood, the decision was made to retain the original 427/390hp engine the car was born with, but with some upgrades. After being removed and stripped bare, it was completely resealed, rebuilt, and fit with a fuel injection system for reliability and ease of use. A performance radiator was installed, along with dual electric fans, and that helps keep this vette running cool, even in the Florida heat with the A/C blowing. Casting number is 3869942.

Great pains were taken to leave as much original under hood as possible, and when it came time to install a new alternator and A/C compressor, polished and chrome parts were set aside for more original and era correct looking units. This gives the appearance of a stock engine at car shows and cruise nights, while retaining the reliability and ease of use fuel injection provides. Every part in the engine bay was touched and sorted through during the build, and all of it presents wonderfully and works as it should.

The original transmission was removed and replaced by a Tremec 5-speed unit on top of a HURST conversion kit with a new McLeod performance clutch and pressure plate. It shifts exceptionally well, with a tight pattern and crisp feel through each gear. Power gets out back thanks to a custom Inland Empire driveshaft. The rear end was treated to a full rebuild, and then a complete Shark Bite front and rear suspension system was installed to give it modern handling and ride. A complete power steering system was installed, and it works beautifully. The last chassis component was a full set of Wilwood disc brakes with a new master cylinder, all of which were dialed in perfectly and scrub off speed as fast as your right foot can add it. No chatter, no excessive fade, and no pulling either. Just perfection!

Once all that was complete, it was time to focus on the interior. Nothing goes nicer with silver than black, so a full custom interior in black quilted alcantara and leather was created for the car, along with a power seat recline, Carbon fiber center console, custom fabricated door panels with insulated speaker housings, a completely refurbished gauge set with carbon fiber surround, tilt column with MOMO racing wheel, Custom Vintage Air billet control panel in black with custom vent housings, fully refurbished center clock, and layer upon layer of Second Skin noise and heat insulation throughout the car. Alcantara covers the dash, pillars, visors, and the matching quilted headliner as well. The custom stereo system is absolutely incredible, and is helmed by a Clarion Media Center head unit with streaming, Bluetooth, AM/FM/HD all in a clean and neat little package. It sends a signal to the massive HERTZ Performance amplifiers which feed the full array of cabin speakers and the center subwoofer. It doesn't matter if you like Rock or Bach, it will NEVER sound better than it does in this Corvette! JUST INCREDIBLE!!!! As with the exterior, everything on the inside is new, or fully refurbished to like brand new, and there are no issues.

A hidden master power switch fires up the electric fuel pump and fans, and a pushbutton start was added that makes firing up this machine a breeze. Idle is clean, with that pure exhaust note only a 427 can provide, and the car is ready to drive right out of the gate thanks to the Fuel Injection. The McLeod clutch lets you snick the Tremec in gear with ease, and the perfect take up engages the car and gets you rolling. Shifting through the gears is like driving a modern car, and power is available throughout the throttle range. Braking is firm and sure, and the suspension system gives you modern car handling and feel without being too harsh or bumpy feeling.

There is not ONE THING I can imagine you needing to do to the car except to drive and enjoy it. It is an exceptional build, with all the right components, and next level fit, finish, and completion.
