Up for sale is a Vintage “Astounding Science Fiction” Pulp Magazine! This is the rare April 1952 issue, Volume XLIX Number 2. This issue features Dumb Waiter by Walter M. Miller Jr., Suicide’s Grave by Joseph Petkoff, The Farthest Horizon by Raymond F. Jones, Radiation by Kelley Edwards, Cosmophyte by Julian Chain, and Gunner Cade (Part 2 of 3) by C. M. Kornbluth and Judith Merril (as by Cyril Judd). These are all the original first printings of these science fiction stories and novelettes. This is a 170-page pulp magazine published by Street & Smith Publications that measures about 7⅝” x 5⅝”. The magazine features a wonderful painted cover by pulp artist Hubert Rogers and many illustrations by Paul Orban, Edd Cartier, Hubert Rogers, and Gordon Pawelka inside. It also includes several glossy photos in its Clouds article in the middle. As shown in the photos, the magazine is in very good condition with a little cover wear, including a small notation in pencil and some light soiling. The paper is mostly intact along the magazine’s spine, with a little splitting starting near the bottom. The magazine is complete and remains well bound. Its interior pages are clean with very few small light corner creases and no rips or tears. The first page is marked “23¢”, and there is no other writing inside. This rare vintage “Astounding Science Fiction” pulp magazine would make a great addition to your collection!
