William Fritzsch

Born in Passaic, N.J., Bill moved to the Middletown (NY) area with his family in 1946. He married his wife, Phyllis in 1964. They have three sons and a daughter as well as 14 grandchildren. Bill is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and, after being honorably discharged, he designed artwork for children’s clothing with Rosenstock’s Clothing Mfg. Eventually, he ran his own sign business and founded a construction company. Some of the inspiration behind his artwork comes from his varied interests and hobbies like hunting, fishing, and even flying (he passed his commercial exam in 1973). Over the years, he has received recognition for his paintings by notable figures including former President George W. Bush, former NY Governor George Pataki, and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg. These days, Bill still enjoys picking up the brush when the inspiration hits him. As of April 2013, he is working on painting the historic Erie Railroad terminal in Middletown, NY.

He is known for painting in both oil and acrylic mediums. In addition to using traditional canvas, he also like using interesting alternatives such as saw blades, mail boxes, and milk cans.
