Native American postcard "1142 Navajo Hogan, Be It Ever So Humble..., Shiprock Indian Agency, New Mexico " showing hogan (home), large extended family, and a flock of sheep.   White border era unused copyright 1923 published by Pen-Dike of Durango Colorado.  Condition is very good+.  This is a black and white printed postcard, the original image came from a photograph.  Condition is always subjective so please review the scan and make your own decision as to condition.  If there is a value noted on the back, its exact origin and purpose are unknown to me but would typically be the price at the time of purchase or insurance value.    If you have any questions, please send me a message in advance of the auction's closing

I have 2 different postcards listed that have a similar title, check out both.

The image is attributed to photographer William M. Pennington (1874-1940) but it could also be photographer Lisle Updike (1890-1976).  Pennington and Updike were on-off-on business partners in Durango and owned Pen-Dike Studio in 1923.  Their photographs, especially those of Native Americans, can be found at the Smithsonian and in other major collections.

This is one of several Indian / Native American postcard auctions I will be listing on eBay during 2024.  PROVENANCE - this auction item is from a exceptional Native American collect of about 300 postcards that has been consigned to me by a renowned postcard collector who I have known almost 4 decades.  The collection is of the highest quality.  Keep checking for new auction listings.

Cost of shipping is reduced on multiple auction wins paid from my combined invoice.  I will send you a combined invoice if you are a multiple auction winner and the invoice will reflect a reduction in shipping costs.
