A pair of classic BOTTLE GREEN girls school knickers manufactured by the famous Banner Schoolwear Company

These are no longer in production and therefore are increasingly rare.

As with all Banner products the quality was never compromised. They are manufactured from good quality 100% pre shrunk cotton which will wash time and again without colour fade or elastic distress.

The cut is full brief style but shaped better than cheaper imitations rising high to the waist and to the small of the back giving a very comfortable full fit with traditional deep sides to ensure full coverage and modesty of the wearer. They have firm "tunnelled" elasticated waist and narrow banded leg openings which are not elasticated.

As was common with the more “modern” style of school knickers produced in the 70's and 80's the cotton is thinner than was the case with the more substantial school knickers of the 1950's and 60's and feature the more modern oblong small gusset of double thickness in the same material the the body of the main garment.

These knickers were a staple for senior schoolgirls from the 70's to the early 90's when sadly school knickers fell out of favour with both mothers, schoolgirls and sadly school uniform specifiers.

The design was to cater for the traditional requirements favoured for decades by girls, mothers and schools to have modest underwear which matched the school uniform colours and skirt so that flashes of underwear would not be spotted.

Girls favoured this style by the 70's/80's because they were thinner, and had very low VPL (visible panty line) when worn under trousers or jeans after school and therefore more modern girls clothing of the age could be worn for those girls who's mothers favoured school knickers for their girls to prevent them getting idea's above their maturity.

Given how flimsy modern underwear is, buying good quality underwear in classic bottle green provides the following multiple advantages:-
