After competing for many years, Shankly's LIVERPOOL F.C. won the 1965 F.A.Cup in 1965 for the first time. This was the beginning of a stockpile of English and European trophies, managed by Shankly and Paisley. After a tense game with a very aggresive LEEDS side, Liverpool triumphed with a late winner from the head of Ian St. John. Chris Lawler played for two hours with a broken collarbone in a display of enormous courage. The whole city turned out to welcome them home.
