KIENZLE 8 day mantel clock, mid 1940s

From my own collection, this is a handsome mantel clock from Kienzle, Germany's oldest manufacturer of clocks and watches. The company produced some of the most recognisable clocks of the 20th century under the creative and visionary direction of Heinrich Moeller, their chief designer from 1931 until 1970.

The clock is framed in golden mahogany and mahogany veneer, set on a simple mahogany plinth. The slim silhouette and domed glass are classic Moeller characteristics. The movement housing and hands are brass; the bezel and chapter ring are die cast metal. It is driven by a hand-wound, high quality 412/4a in-house 8 day jewelled lever movement. The clock is generally in very good condition, although there is an old, repaired and stable crack to the base, and the case does show some marks from years of handling.

The clock has been disassembled and cleaned and the wood treated with a restorative solution and wax polished. It is in in full working order, although the service history is unknown and keeping good time with a very quiet tick. It will be supplied with instructions on regulating (if necessary).

Please note that as this is a vintage clock I can offer no guarantees. If you have any questions please ask!
