Written by Ada Dziewanowska who came to America in 1947, taught Polish language courses at Harvard, studied dance at the Boston Conservatory of Music and was a dance director and choreographer for the Boston Krakowiak Polish Dancers. In 1979, she became artistic director and choreographer of the Syrena Polish Folk Dance Ensemble of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This book contains over 70 selected dances with step-by-step instructions on the dancers' positions, basic steps and patterns. There are over 400 illustrations depicting steps and movements and over 90 appropriate musical selections providing the musical score, lyrics in Polish and the English translations and pronunciation.
