If you've been looking for the punch, power and tones available with an active preamp the TONEMONSTER TMA/AVT/EP/MIC Series preamps have a model ready to install in your new build or existing instrument. Manufactured in South Korea, they feature an advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) design minimizing the cavity space required. Top quality components and meticulous soldering ensures noise free performance for a superior tone to dollar value! With 7 models/configurations (variable UST, Mics, pots, preamps) to choose from and a +/- 12dB range for either 2 (treble/bass) or 3 (treble/middle/bass) bands of equalization they will make your acoustic pickups and internal microphones sing!

Pre wired and ready to install, other features include a hi/lo frequency shift or a hi/lo mids toggle switch option (SBK-3A/AD), a NO SOLDER terminal block for pickup connection and brass shaft potentiometers for smoother control and longer life.

Installation is typically a breeze - connect your included piezoelectric pickup and mic in the sockets provided. And rock on!

Powered by a 9V alkaline battery (not included) the circuit can handle up to 18V (2-9V in series) for slightly increased increased headroom. We offer DIY power upgrades including the BAT-1 (18V) or BAT-2 (9 or 18V switchable).

TMA/AVT/EP/MIC INSTALLATION TIPS

The UST (Under Saddle Transducer) pickup installation should be done with great care! To compensate for the change in saddle height, you may need to shave amount = to approximately 2-2.5mm off the saddle. This will maintain the instrument's current string height. The hole for the UST cable should be drilled inside the saddle channel so that it lays flat. If the saddle channel is not deep or wide enough for the UST routing may be required. Do not force the UST into the saddle channel! You will damage the sensors. The UST plugs into the 2.5mm input jack found on the TMA/AVT/EP Series preamps.

The condenser microphone (MIC) plugs into the 2.5mm input jack on the EP1/2-MIC models and TMA-22P. Like any microphone feedback can occur dependent on the volume and proximity to the amplifier or sound system being used. It may be necessary to roll off available EQ frequencies in order to minimize.

The TMA/EP Series end pin preamps require a ½" (13mm) hole for installation.

The STC-1/3 thumb wheel control uses the 3M adhesive pad for installation inside the sound hole.

The AVT requires two 8mm holes on a 1" center for the volume/tone potentiometers. The output jack requires a 9mm hole. The attached cable plugs into the 3.5mm output jack.

Please note the output jack also handles the power on/off function along with the volume on/off. The battery will drain if left on and the cord remains plugged in!

ST2 Series Surface Transducers use a 3M adhesive pad for installation. The pickup's attached cable simply plugs into the 2.5mm input jack found on the EP1/2. Similar to a condenser microphone, feedback may result dependent on the volume and proximity to the amplifier or sound system being used.
