1989 Porsche 944 2.7      116,178 miles

Guards Red, black cloth interior

I bought the car in January 2022 after it had been locked in a garage for approximately 10 years.

There is no history other than the 2006-2012 MOT record. This suggests the mileage is accurate, but it is no guarantee.

Prior to being laid up it would appear to have had the interior refreshed, the seats and dash are in great condition with no cracks in the dashboard.

The Sills were not well repaired and were full of filler and other non metallic substances.

I have replaced the inner and outer sills with new metal the outer sills are zintec coated for more durability I also filled the sill cavities with waxoyl and seam sealed the lot.

The original front shocks are no longer available so I have performed the switch over to Bilstein shocks on the front and rear. The ride height is factory with the torsion bars unaltered.

To complement the restoration the car had new Fuch's style alloy wheels and tyres.

The car has a new  MOT (March 21st with no advisories)

The list of replacement parts and work done is extensive leading to a very useable 944.

Bad points

The Guards red paint is mostly original and is going a bit pink in places but will polish up. From its years in storage the bonnet has some water marks, these may polish out using a professional car detailer. The sunroof does not work off the switch in the cabin, but I have created a work around with a switch in the boot. These sunroof mechanisms are complex with a number of microswitches in the sunroof frame.

There are some cleaned up rust spots around the sunroof, but these could do with more tidying up. The headlining is a bit loose in places.

I have really enjoyed working on the 944 and believe it is now a very useable classic car. In September I completed a 380 mile round trip to South Yorkshire and the 944 performed just fine and really benefitted from a good run.

I restore a car that interests me every year or 2 and this is my 10th so far. I am happy to answer any questions about the car. Just get in touch.

I recommend that if interested you come a view the car in person.

I require a £500 deposit within 6 hours of the auction closing.

Any bidders with less than 20 feedback must contact me and ideally see the car before bidding otherwise I will remove their bids.
