$1200 was the retail price for these Black Label pickups & they typically sell for more on the secondary market. This set goes to the highest bidder.
One of the most requested Virgil Arlo one-offs was the 1950-1960 design, which was based combined a warm 50s style PAF in the bridge & a clear 60s style PAF in the neck.
Over the years Virgil Arlo offered one-off service to select pro players. Most times the player was trying to replace a lost guitar from the past or replicate the tone of one of his preferred vintage guitars in a more modern guitar for touring purposes.
This was always a team effort between the musician and the staff. The musician provided the inspiration and Virgil Arlo wound the pickups.
During the R&D process, the Black Label design was directly compared to the original pickups from the legendary vintage Gibsons from the 50s and 60s. The tone is spot on.
2019 was the last year winding for Virgil Arlo. Starting in 2022 we reached an agreement to produce the Virgil Arlo Black Label Reissues. There has been a conflict regarding licensing fees. As a result, we were never able to offer them for sale at our site for the 2023 run. The conflict remains unresolved but we've reached an agreement to sell the few remaining Black Label sets made here on ebay.
When originally released in 2022, the the Black Label pickups sold out incredibly fast because many players on the scene quickly sold their original Arlo's White Labels and replaced them these. Most players said these Black Label reissues sound and feel identical to original white label Arlo's, some actually say they are better which is a huge honor for us to hear.
You don't see these Black Label Reissues on the secondary market very often, when they pop up they typically sell for more the original Arlo's.
Our hopes are that this set will go to a real musician or aspiring player as opposed to a profiteer looking to flip these over on Reverb.
