A vintage microphone sold as a decorative non-working item. I cannot get a signal out of this and it tests open circuit on a multimeter.
I cannot find a maker’s name on it. I took the front off to see if there were any clues inside, but sadly not. While inside it I noticed that the foam was degrading (crumbling), so I pulled it all out as there was no point in keeping it. The capsule resembles that from a telephone handset, so it isn’t a ribbon microphone, but perhaps it is easily replaced with something similar to a telephone handset?
I believe it dates to the 1930s judging by the quality of the casting, and the aging of the rubber protection ring on the base.
