Late 70's vintage Peugeot PX10 racing bike.
Measures 60cm,centre of bottom bracket to top of seat tube.
A perfect Eroica companion this summer!

Here is a very striking example of the classic Peugeot PX10,I suspect of late 1970's vintage. In what appears to be quite a rare orange colour scheme.
Arguably the most desirable vintage Peugeot racing bike, the PX10 was a seminal bike. The first bike you could buy off the shelf, that professionals rode and as such they are now very collectable.

This example as stated is from the late 70's and has just been stripped, cleaned and rebuilt using,in the main correct, original parts. Some items are not quite correct for the model but are period and in some cases a better, more usable item.
It has a full,Reynolds 531 frame and forks, correct Atax bars & stem, correct Simplex seat post, correct Stronglight, model 93 chainset, and the correct Mafac Racer brake calipers and levers, along with the correct Simplex top tube, cable clamps. The front and rear derailleurs are Simplex but not the Criterium model as fitted orginally, they are however better quality, longer lasting items.without the plastic components that frequently break!
The wheels have Maillard/Spidel hubs and instead of the Mavic tubular rims, have a pair of Rigida,700c clincher rims.So much easier to live with and repair on route. To sit on,there is a Brooks Competition, leather saddle.

As mentioned the bike has been fully rebuilt, this including new bearings and grease in the headset and bottom bracket.New grease and bearings also in both wheel hubs. All other components have been cleaned and serviced as required. To finish off a new pair of Michelin Dynamic Classic 700 x 20c tyres,a new chain and new, black bar tape fitted. It also has a 6 speed rear freewheel, that looks to have had minimal use.
The frame is in good condition with no dents or corrosion. The paintwork I would say is reasonably well patinated, with a good number of marks and chips, most of which have been touched in (see pics for most obvious). In my opinion it would have been a great shame to repaint the frame. As they say,it's original only once!

As a result of the above work, the bike now rides very nicely indeed.Tight and rattle free over the bumps, the brakes work well and the gears change very smoothly.

A lovely example of a classic Peugeot racing bike.A very desirable model,in very nice order and in an unusual colour scheme.

Please note, the bike will be sold with a set of pedals.
