This badge was based on a WW1 era 1st NZEF cap badge, but the design and SIZE are actually quite different

The Silver Fern leaves that adorn either side are our National Plant

Some of the WW1 "onward" cap badges had OAKLEAVES (The Oak Tree is NOT a native NZ tree species)

SUPERB original PATINA this SUPERB condition 2nd NZEF overseas service enlisted ranks hat badge is in UNCLEANED condition. 

Maker marked in outside or rear scroll "M&K" for Mayer and Keane "W" for Wellington, (our nation's capital city) 

And on the other side of the scroll's rear "44" for year of manufacture (1944)
