DAVIES & SON Savile Row Fully Bespoke 3 Piece Chalk Stripe Peak Suit (43) £6500+.

This beautiful suit was in the personal collection of Alan Bennett (pictured) himself; the owner of Davies & Son and member of the prestigious ‘50 year club’ on Savile Row. He made this suit in 2004 for personal use! It is thus a truly special piece of Savile Row tailoring history.

Bespoke made so please observe following measurements :

Jacket :

Pit to pit : 22.5”

Shoulder to cuff : 24.5”

Across button laid flat from side to side : 22.5”

Shoulder to shoulder at back : 17.75”

Top of collar to bottom at back : 32.5”

Waistcoat :

Pit to pit : 21.5”

Top to bottom at back : 33”

Trousers : 19” across waist laid flat - braces by Thurston Made in England (worth £30-60 on eBay) included in sale!! If you would like to buy without braces I am happy to take £30 off the price but I can’t express highly enough how lovely they are!

31.5” inside leg.

8.75 at leg opening

9.75” across leg (measured 15” up from opening)

The jacket boasts gorgeous peak lapels, a single breasted one button fastening, four button working cuffs, a ventless back, inner and outer pockets, a stunning purple satin lining, a pleated front and the beautiful Davies & Son label inside.

The waistcoat has a lovely 6 button fastening, an amazing lilac stripe lining, an adjustable back fastening, four pockets, a Davies & Son label concealed in back fastening, and notch lapels.

The trousers are designed to be worn with braces and are a 38” waist. Alan liked to wear all his suits with braces and therefore the trousers all have slightly larger waists than is conventional. Fortunately the braces are included in this sale! Please see trouser size paragraph for more details.

The blue colour provides a spectacular contrast to the chalk pinstripe and gives the suit and elegant and distinguished look.

The condition is absolutely fantastic - the final two photos show two tiny areas of slight yellowing to the chalk stripe - first on the jacket front and second on the waistcoat front but this is a very minor detail that was only noticed by me upon very close inspection. I expect a little rub with a damp sponge may even remove this.

Alan Bennett is part of the highly respected ’50 Club’ on Savile Row, indicating over 50 years’ experience in tailoring.
