This is an original color pencil drawing of a World War I service man by William Tefft Schwarz, an American artist born in 1888.  Schwarz was a Captain in Sanitary Corps of the United States Army during 1917 - 1919 when this drawing was presumably produced.  The artistic career of Schwarz was long starting with training in Europe, magazine illustrations and numerous murals.  The bugle insignia on the hat of the soldier is often used for infantry.  The soldier's facial features are well modelled using numerous colors and shades to give contour and depth to the subject.  The piece is signed by the artist and comes matted and framed. It is a one-of-a-kind piece and showcases Schwarz's illustration art style. The condition of the drawing is very fine. There are two small light discoloration spots that are outside of the image. The sketch paper was laid down on foam board to stabilize a tear in the lower left corner. This tear is essentially invisible as shown in the fourth photograph. The frame is made of wood and has a few knocks on the front edge.  The mat window size is 10 inches x 13 inches.  The total framed size is 14 inches x 19 inches.
