A heavy Derby shoe that bears the detailing synonymous with true country shoes. The Bourton is a piece of Northampton shoemaking history, and today they are the go-to shoe for men all around the world.
A full bellows tongue is folded and attached to the shoe to provide a watertight seal, with the storm welt providing an additional watertight seal between the shoe's upper and sole. The profile of the shoe is characteristically strong; with a solid sole unit, leather linings and our traditional leather sole.
THE LEATHER
Tan is a colour that harks back to our heritage. Traditionally, Tans came in levels starting from A upwards. C-shade is the tone we adopted and all our traditional country shoes are available in this colour. Due to the follicle hairs it's a very flat tone, with a matted lustre that is unusual to most leathers - a must have for any shoe collector.
C-shade requires a high level substance (the thickness) only achievable from the hides of heavier and older animals - our C-shade shoes and boots are made using sustainably sourced Bull’s hides. The result is a really robust leather that wears in beautifully and can really stand the test of time. C-Shade has a good degree of water resistance and due to its hard-wearing qualities is ideal for our country footwear.
From new, we advise using Neutral Polish to help maintain a pair of shoes in C-Shade. If you would like to add some more colour to your C-Shade leather then we advise using Lt Tan Polish.
