Hello and thanks for you interest in this Vintage 1970 Gibson SG Standard.  If I am not mistaken, I think this is the model that Angus Young used of AC/DC, but I could be wrong.

I bought this guitar used a few years ago, but I believe it is all original.  If you look at the pics it shows that these are the original pickups and the original pots and switches and wiring.

The guitar has its share of bumps, bruises, scrapes and little dents.  It is a very old guitar, and it has been played alot.  I believe that the frets have been replaced at some point because they seem like they have a lot of life left; they don't seem very worn at all.

The guitar is playable, and it sounds fantastic.  I must admit that with the maestro vibrato setup, it isn't the easiest guitar to play.  For example, if you try to shred some Yngwie Malmsteem, or try to do deep Steve Vai type whammy bends and licks, it is not going to respond like a Floyd Rose or anything like that.

This is more of a rock/blues guitar.  It is great for that, and the pickups sound awesome.  It definitely gets the vintage sound coming through the old vintage pickups.

The guitar has had a HEADSTOCK REPAIR, in the past (see pics).  The damage was pretty bad where it left a slight crimp in the headstock that you can see from the front running from top to bottom on the G, B, and E string posts.

The headstock break doesn't seem to effect the playability of the guitar.  If anything, it is a little stiff to bend 1 1/2 - to 2 whole step bends, but I think it may have to do with the maestro bridge setup more than the headstock repair.

The guitar is not good for what it does which is rock and blues.  Chords sound awesome, rock/blues solos sound awesome.  The guitar plays great.  It is kind of heavy for an SG.  I will weigh it and update the description.

The neck has fairly low action and is comfortable to play.  I believe that the truss rod works.

At some point, it looks like someone tried to remove the neck (see pictures).  It may have been done when the headstock repair was done.

The finish looks like someone may have touched it up at some point, maybe even with a brush?  The finish looks like it has been touched up; it could have been done when the headstock repair was done.

This is definitely a players guitar, but it has some collectible value also.  I think these are pretty rare, but at the same time, it is great to jam out on everyday while it continues to go up in value!

Please look closely at the pictures, and I will be glad to ask any questions at all.  I am hoping to sell this guitar to someone that may have played these before, and know that this is the kind of guitar they are looking for.  I really don't want to have to offer returns on this guitar if possible.

This guitar sounds great, but I would say that you have to be an intermediate guitar player or better to really make it sound great.  It isn't the easiest guitar to play.  It isn't super slinky a strat where you can bend it all over the place.  It has a little stiffer feel, but once you get used to it, it is very useable for recording, live situations, and just all out daily cranking out and practice sessions.  This guitar is built like a tank, it has a very solid feel compared to some of the more modern SG's I have played over the years.

I forgot to mention that the G tuner is sort of bent, and another one (see pics) is sort of bent looking, but they still work and hold the tune for the most part.  If you try to do a 21/2 whole step bend it may slip, but what old guitar wouldn't with the original tuners.  This thing is good, but it isn't perfect in every way.   But it will definitely take some serious bending and heavy blues rock playing and will hold the tune.  I don't use the vibrato much, I just tuck it up over the volume and tone knobs.

I want someone that dreams of owning this guitar to have their dreams come true.  I am asking a price, but if you think it is too high, or not a fair price, make me an offer of what you think would be a fair price, and you may be surprised how much I will work with someone to make them a happy new owner of this guitar.

I am not out to make a fortune off this guitar, I know times are tough, and I just want the buyer to be happy with the price they paid, and know that this is the sort of guitar they want ahead of time to prevent having to return the guitar and go that route which I would like to avoid.

So please if interested, ask questions, and I will be glad to answer and even make an offer, because I am open to all offers.  I would prefer to sell and ship to 48 states only if possible.
