This is a handmade wooden male ancestor figure from the Baule tribe in Côte d'Ivoire.  The figure is sculpted out of a dark dense wood that shows a fine grain.  The carving technique produced a surface texture of very fine hair-like grooves in some areas.  The facial features are very expressive. The figure is 10 1/2 inches tall. There is a sticker from Primitive Arts of New Hope, a Pennsylvania store that apparently no longer exists. It is a collectible item that represents African culture and ethnicity. The ancestor figure is in excellent condition. There is no damage of any kind. The wood has a uniform patina. The figure may be a little dusty. There has been no attempt to clean the item.
