This auction is for an Atari 1027 Letter Quality Printer. It is boxed and complete but is non-functional.

The printer is in good cosmetic condition, yellowed slightly from age, but otherwise in great condition. The power adaptor is included (61605-34) and works, but is without a mains plug, with some damage to the shielding to one of the joins to the main case and one plastic corner is broken. An SIO cable is included and is working. The user manual is in good condition with no damage. There is an additional letter from Atari UK explaining the contents of the box. Two Ink Rollers are included along with a container of oil for lubrication of which small amount remains. A dust cover is also included although I'm not sure whether this was an original Atari part.

The box is in good condition. One corner has been slightly crushed but there are no major tears or marks to it. The polystyrene inserts are largely intact but one corner appears to have been cut away to provide room for the power adapter, so I suspect the adapter was originally supplied in a separate box as it is far to big to fit in the printer box along with the printer and accessories.

The main issue with the printer is that the print head has completed disintegrated over time to the point that there is nothing left of it. This is a common issue with this printer as can be found from a few Google searches, hence this item has been listed as 'for parts'.

The printer powers on when connected to the mains adaptor and the print head positions itself to the left hand side of the unit. When I first connected it to an Atari 800XL I was able to send a print command to it and it responded by moving the print head. However I couldn't get it to respond in that way after 10 minutes of use, so again it should be considered as non-functional.

Apart from the obvious defects, this is a good example of this model of printer so might be of interest to a collector. It looks like replacement print heads have been available at some point in the past, although it's not clear if they can still be sourced.

Please contact me if you have any more questions or would like any more detail. This is quite heavy so that is reflected in the postage cost. I will only post to the UK and collection in person is available.

Thanks for looking.
