History of Berlin Iron Jewelry:   Berlin Iron was a black lacquered cast iron material used in jewelry making in Silesia, Prussia at the Gleiwitz Foundry starting around 1790.    When Napoleon had successfully invaded Prussia, it was an empire that once sprawled across much of Europe. The Prussian government was now trying to fund the War of Liberation, from 1813-1814. An appeal was issued to women to donate their gold and fine jewelry to the treasury, which will allow the government to raise money for the fight. In return for their donation they received jewelry made of Berlin iron.

Original Berlin Iron jewelry is VERY RARE and IF you can find any pieces they are VERY expensive.  As an artist who loves the style I decided to design and create replica jewelry collection that can be worn and enjoyed today.  I used a mix of different metals in my designs but all are in the black color.
