L Ron Hubbard Scientology Books - Fortress In The Sky Brochure - Published 1957 - Washington DC - 20 Pages

Description:

Published by the Hubbard Association of Scientologists International, Founding Church Washington, DC.

This brochure is a reprint of an article published in Air Trails magazine in May of 1947. Ron wrote the article under the pen name Captain B. A. Northrop

"The military or naval problem opposed by the appearance of the atom bomb is almost unsolvable, for that weapon gives such tremendous offensive striking power at such distance to any armed force that a prime theorem of military fundamentals is irrevocably violated.

"Some of the earliest known treatises on warfare, make it clear that, roughly, 50% of any force must be a holding factor while 50% is a striking factor.

"There have been periods in the history of tactics when these two functions have been combined in one unit, as in the case of the Greek phalanx until Persian cavalry so thoroughly disrupted it.

"Philip II of Macedon seems to have been the first to recognize rationally the need of an independent holding force, which could in itself act as a bulwark for cavalry and light troops before, and after these had disrupted the enemy line."

This brochure features photo reproductions of the original paintings from the magazine. It was featured as a promotional brochure in early Scientology books & publications until the early '60s, presumably when John F. Kennedy announced the US would be going to the moon within the decade.

It features photo reproductions of the paintings from the original Air Trails magazine article.
