Tourism Plates were made through most of the 20th century by a Victorian family.  They were sold all around the southern states from the 1930's.  They now show a unique snapshot of another age, some plates or bowls, (all made of pressed glass), have the location, in this case a photo of Maroondah Dam near Healesville Victoria.  I suspect this plate is from the early 40's and it is in a circular shape. At this time Warburton was a popular tourist destination around Melbourne and people would often picnic there on Sundays, it was far enough out of town to really feel like the country, many artists were drawn to the beautiful valley of the Yarra river.

The family developed a unique process to adhere the photograph to the glass and a tourist souvenir was born.  Interestingly these photos are still 80 or more years later in good condition and still look great.

Any questions just ask.
